So what is the target marketplace for Small Business Server (SBS) 2008? SBS 2008 is a complete network software suite that bundles together a special edition of Windows Server 2008, Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, Windows SharePoint Services 3.0, and Windows Server Update Services. There is a SBS 2008 Premium Edition available that also includes SQL Server 2008. Both of these products are priced to be much cheaper than purchasing the components separately.
The target company for the Standard Edition would be 5 - 75 employees. The target company for the Premium Edition would be higher, perhaps 10 - 75 employees. A company with less than 10 employees would want to use the Premium Edition if they had a business need for Microsoft SQL Server.
Another factor for a SBS 2008 target company is how (or if) the computers are currently connected together. Are you using no network or a peer-to-peer network with no user accounts and no company-wide security in-place? If either of these are the case, your company is a prime candidate to install SBS 2008.
